World of Ori Tang
My Favourite People
My Favourite Orangutans

I am proud to have so many kind and caring friends and
groups who support me, Ori Tang and my book

THE MISADVENTURES OF ORI TANG

BUT - my very best friends
are my 7 real life orangutan cousins

who the AWAIC has adopted from the

ORANGUTAN OUTREACH PROGRAM!!
with special LOVE AND ORANG HUGS

to Rich Zimmerman
(that is - RICH with an H!!)

ORANGUTAN OUTREACH
is connected to
the
Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation

To learn more about Orangutan Island, the
BORNEO ORANGUTAN SURVIVAL FOUNDATION
and the
work they do saving and rehabilitating
orangutans
please go to:

www.redapes.org

You can also learn all about our Orangutan Orphans, my
new cousins as well as all the others they are trying to
rehabilitate.

They are the greatest Orangutan rescue organization
IN THE WORLD!! They are the home of
Animal Planet's
ORANGUTAN ISLAND!!
,
They are caring for over 1000 orphaned and
displaced Orangutans in Borneo, and are speaking
out against the palm oil corporations that are
clear cutting the forest and converting the
Orangutan's habitat into giant plantations to
produce PALM OIL!

AND NOW I WOULD LIKE YOU ALL TO MEET MY REAL LIFE
ADOPTED COUSINS!!! Although my story takes place in
Sumatra, my cousins all live at the

NYARU MENTENG RESCUE AND REHABILITATION CENTER
in KALIMANTAN (INDONESIAN BORNEO)

It is too painful for me to describe the brutal and harsh
treatment that these poor orphan babies and their
mothers and fathers have received from poachers and
plantation workers. However, at their rehabilitation center
in Borneo, these babies are being taught how to live and
survive in a harsh world.

My first cousin is "KESI", who was found by the rescue
team at Nyaru Menteng with her left hand missing - cut
off by poachers when her mother was killed. Imagine the
CRUELTY inflicted on these poor orangutans. Today KESI
is doing well! She loves to climb and eat rambutans.

See "KESI's" pictures and stories on www.redapes.org

I have another cousin called "LOMON". His mother was killed when they were desperate for food and made their way to a pineapple plantation. Lomon spent most of his young life chained up in a wooden box and had his head shaved! After he was rescued and fed, he began to grow quickly and loves spending time in the trees. When last seen he was reported to be huge - just like King Tang in our book!!
See "LOMON's" pictures and stories on www.redapes.org

My first cousin, "TARA" is soon to be released into the wilds
of the rain forest on one of the islands. A success story!!
That is good news, and we wish her the best of luck!!

See "TARA's" pictures and story on www.redapes.org

Poor "FIO's" mother died from her many wounds and "FIO" was found starving and frightened. She nearly died of malnutrition. Four years later she is in good health and going to the FOREST SCHOOL!!
See "FIO's" pictures and story on www.redapes.org

And "GRENDON", the STAR*** of the group appeared on ORANGUTAN DIARY which aired on BBC. Grendon is very smart and a fast learner. He has gruduated to a more advanced forest group, but he misses his best friend, KESI!!
See "GRENDON's" pictures and story on www.redapes.org

We mustn't forget a new little guy called "DODO". Dodo was
rescued when his mother was killed and his forest home was
converted into a PALM OIL PLANTATION!!!
